Plan 75

  • 15

Debut director Chie Hayakawa holds a mirror up to society with a thought-provoking drama that imagines a near-future where a country with a low birth rate and dwindling workforce takes drastic steps to alleviate the burden of its ageing population. In a dystopian Japan, government program Plan 75 encourages senior citizens to be voluntarily euthanised to remedy a super-aged society. An elderly woman whose means of survival are vanishing, a pragmatic Plan 75 salesman, and a young Filipino labourer face choices of life and death.
