A PIGEON SAT ON A BRANCH REFLECTING ON EXISTENCE

The title of the third film in Andersson’s Living Trilogy, which uses a cast of nonprofessionals, was inspired by a painting by Brueghel the Elder. Hapless novelty salesmen Sam and Jonathan embark on a tour of the human condition that unfolds in a series of absurdist episodes so far removed from the rest of cinema as to render a description virtually impossible.
