A documentary by acclaimed film-maker Grant Gee about The Rings of Saturn by one of Europe’s most important post-war writers WG Sebald (1944-2001), relating a walking tour of Suffolk. A meditative and visionary journey, shot in grainy black and white to reflect the photographs in the original book, with a voiceover by Jonathan Pryce directly from the book and interviews with writers and artists who knew Sebald; it is, like the book, a partly fictional essay on landscape, art, history, life and loss.
