Winning the Grand Prix at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, 120 BPM is a film that struggles to remain still, its camera, actors and message continually restless and continually seeking to provoke our attention. Following the public protests of the HIV/AIDS activist group ACT UP, 120 BPM is a microphone-loud commentary on the urgent struggles of its members to create change and awareness, individuals who are conscious of the countdown to their own mortality.
