In Pölsler’s adaptation of Marlen Haushofer’s 1963 novel Die Wand, Gedeck’s character is on a trip in the Austrian alps when an invisible wall drops without warning, trapping her and the dog Luchs in a forested valley. Within the wall the woods are full of wildlife, whilst outside the world appears frozen in time.
