Set in a post-apocalyptic future, where civilization has been reduced to violence through the pressures of starvation, The Survivalist focuses on the solitary existence of one man, self-sufficient in the woodland. When a starving woman and a girl she claims to be her daughter walk upon his Edenic refuge, the carefully constructed balance of his life is threatened, as well as his own moral compass. Beautifully filmed against the backdrop of Northern Ireland, this primal and unforgiving feature is an expressionistic social-commentary.
