STILL WALKING

A spectre haunts a family. Years ago, their favoured son died while saving another boy from drowning, and every year the boy is invited to join the annual family reunion. His presence is a continuing catalyst for the simmering undercurrents of embarrassed grief, sibling resentment and parental authority that infest the clan. Sensitively portrayed by a superbly focused ensemble, this intimately detailed domestic drama, very much in the spirit of Yasujiro Ozu, is a subtle joy from start to finish. Highly recommended.
