THE SHINING

Kubrick’s classic horror film stars Jack Nicholson in his iconic role as the writer Jack Torrance, holed up for the winter with his family as caretaker of a snow bound hotel, with the aim of being able to concentrate on his writing, which does not go according to plan. A triumph of set creation at Elstree, the film is also one of the first to use the steadycam technique, which helps create some of the film’s most memorable images. Shown in a beautiful digital print, and with an extra 24 minutes not seen in Europe, this extraordinary film is due a revisit on the big screen.
