It’s Paris 1927 and there is a surplus of war orphans. Célestine (Karsenti) agrees to take troubled youth Paul (Scandel) back home to the Sologne, upon seeing how badly he's being treated in the orphanage he calls a ‘prison’. Once Paul is free to explore in the forest, he learns how to fish and trap animals under the tutelage of wily poacher Totoche (Cluzet). Wildlife and the pristine forests of the Sologne, where French Senegal-born writer/director/adventurer Nicolas Vanier grew up, are at the forefront of his ambitious comedy-drama. The wildlife, flowing streams and sun-drenched greenery of the area give the film the feel of a beautiful nature documentary.
