Writer-director Peter Mullan returns with a gritty British drama set in 1970s Glasgow. The film centres on studious John McGill as he enters secondary school. His glittering academic career soon takes a downward spiral and he becomes yet another Non-Educated Delinquent (ned). His home life is unsettled, the teachers don’t want to know and the gang culture manages to engulf the school as well as the housing estate.
