In his English-language feature-film debut, director Yorgos Lanthimos delivers The Lobster – a surrealistic, hilarious satire on the nature of relationships. In a dystopian near future single people are obliged to find a mate within forty-five days, otherwise they will be killed and reincarnated into an animal of their choice. Arguably a criticism of modern relationship and human dependency on them, Lanthimos’s film is a unique blend of absurdist comedy and the macabre.
