THE LAST TREE

After an idyllic childhood being fostered by Mary (Black) in rural Lincolnshire, Nigerian‑British teenager Femi (Golding, Adewunmi) moves in with his mother (Ikumelo) in London. There he struggles with unfamiliar surroundings and cultural differences in his quest for what it means to be a young black man in London. In this semi-autobiographical story Femi initially becomes a tough, drug-dealing type, but a visit to Nigeria and an encounter with his father changes his outlook.

Moving, elegant coming-of-age drama.
