Artist Ai Weiwei’s documentary feature charts the relentless movement of displaced peoples around the world. Filmed over a year in 23 countries, Human Flow graphically depicts the harsh realities of refugees who through no fault of their own find themselves on the wrong side of a border – real or imagined. This visceral work of cinema – a testament to the power of the human spirit – poses one of the questions that will define this century: Will our global society emerge from fear, isolation and self-interest and choose a path of openness, freedom and respect for humanity?
