First-time director Legrand’s nerve shredding domestic drama tells the story of a custody battle that plays out initially in a magistrates court, then against the background of an anger riven family home. Shifting points of view play on the viewer’s sympathies as the parents, two fine performances from Ménochet and Drucker, fight for the custody of their child. Eventually, though, we are left with little doubt as to where the blame for the disintegration of the family and its horrific consequences lies.
