LIKE CRAZY

American boy meets British girl. British girl overstays student visa. American government is not amused. And thus plays out the bittersweet drama of Anna and Jacob, two crazy-in-love kids whose world is believable and whose plight could be surmounted but for the sacrifices required. Much of the film was improvised by the excellent leads, Anton Yelchin and a radiant Felicity Jones, who are ably supported by Jennifer Lawrence (perhaps her last small role now that The Hunger Games has been released) as Jacob's backup lover and Alex Kingston and Oliver Muirhead as Anna's middle-class parents. A contrived weepie (aren't they all?), but a well-made one.
