The young boy Cuca leaves his family farm in search of his father. In a Brazilian metropolis he recalls moments with his now absent parent, such as him playing the flute, and a heavy sense of loss is evoked. We see the world through the child as he witnesses the worst of today’s Brazil – a country of social unrest and economic disparity. A mixture of drawing, painting and animation is used, and full advantage is taken of the medium’s ability to seamlessly segue between fantasy and reality. What little speech there is uses a fictional language created by reversing Portuguese words.
