BOXING DAY

A businessman named Basil (the always-fascinating Danny Huston, who's father John appears in Chinatown) and his chauffeur, Nick, drive into the heart of the Rocky mountains in the midst of perilous weather conditions. The third in Rose's Tolstoy sequence (following IvansXTC and The Kreuzer Sonata), Boxing Day is based on Master and Man, from 1895. Tolstoy's concerns of spiritual revelation and redemption are transposed onto the sparse and chilly slopes of today's social divide.
