Endowed with the wild spirit of filmmakers Wim Wenders and Michelangelo Antonioni, American Honey is a rebellious, rough-edged road movie, brimming with sexual energy and raw delirium. The narrative follows Star, a free- spirited teenage girl, and her movements with a travelling magazine sales crew. Hard partying, pink-elephant reveries, illegal activities and young love accompany their journey across the Midwest. Arnold, director of Fish Tank (2009) and Great Expectations (2011), creates an effective expression of spontaneity and youthful energy.
